SMLA partnered with CHLN Sports Media to create a Sports Media Program that educates our students and develop their skills in the space of sports media. The Sports Media program focuses on all media forms. Social media, print media and broadcast media are an important focus area for the program. This program is excellent for those students who seek to have a career in broadcasting as an analyst, on-air personality, photographer, camera operator, editor, producer, director and so much more.

There are numerous opportunities to be apart of the media during sporting events. Photographers are heavily employed and essential to covering sports.

On the field or court broadcasters provide interviews and entertainment for the viewing public. Having an opportunity to be amongst the crowd and with the professionals is an exciting and fulfilling career.

Camera operators who provide the real-time images of competition have been a part of sports media since competition was broadcasted. This skill is highly touted by networks, film producers and the like.

Event sound technicians coordinate with camera operators and film produces. To have high quality sound along with the motion images are key to the delivery of the product.

Broadcasters at the grass roots, college, scholastic and professional levels have enjoyable experiences that derive from the diverse population they are afforded to meet and interview.

Filmmakers have increased their story telling in the world of sports. There are more documentaries, short films, podcasts and shows that provide content for directors and story tellers.
